Happy Mother’s Day!

Love at first sight!
Love at first sight!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there! It’s our day, and I hope you were able to celebrate it surrounded by your children and loved ones. This is my second Mother’s Day, my first last year was just over a month after our Hunter was born. I was still adjusting to life as a new mum. I was excited, anxious, full of raging hormones and suffering from lack of sleep like every new mum. Although there are so many beautiful pictures of what motherhood looks like, we all know it’s not always unicorns and rainbows, especially those first few days after giving birth.

No matter how much help and support you have, it feels like you just survived a massive train wreck. Your body, whether you gave birth vaginally or via caesarean, is still in shock. Most of us are in survival mode. No makeup, fancy clothes or time for much other than taking care of that precious newborn in your arms.

One boob, if not both, was always out those first few weeks 🙂

My twin!

As I get ready to welcome my second child soon, I excited and feeling anxious again, this time on how we’ll manage an active toddler and newborn. It gives me a new appreciation to how my mom was able to manage six of us (I know!). I know we’ll survive and hopefully thrive as a family of four.

Xoxo,
Helen
