Three ways to reinvent yourself in the New Year

New Years means new beginnings and a chance to start over, or reinvent yourself. Do you feel stuck in a relationship that’s going nowhere? Have a job you hate waking up and going to every morning? Have your skinny jeans been lying in the back of your closet for so long, they have cob webs growing over them? Is this what you’ve always pictured your life would be? Chances are it’s not. That’s why every year we make resolutions and goals. It’s our way of holding on to that little bit of hope we still have left.

    Women’s Health Week

This week is National Women’s Health Week. It’s also now five months since January when many of us made New Year’s resolutions. For most of us, those resolutions included health and wellness goals. This week, even if you got sidetracked and gave up, get yourself back on track. Need some tips to get back on track? Try these: Get up and move. Thirty minutes a day, three times a week. If you’re looking to drop a few pounds, then along with a balanced meal plan, you have to bump up your gym time to four to five times a week. Start off slow and build your endurance (tolerance) up. Take…

    Lessons from my mom

Happy Mother’s Day to you all, whether you’re a mother by birth, a step-parent, foster parent, or (like me) a dog parent. I look at my mother and reflect on how similar and different we are. Like most moms, she annoys me. She will talk me to death at least three octaves above normal if given a chance – but she’s my mother. She’s my living example of how resilient and determined a woman can be, even with multiple obstacles placed in front of them. Here are some of Mama Juana’s best lessons: It’s never too late to start over (reinvent yourself). Which is exactly what she did. She left…

Stop waiting for the perfect person

Via How many of you have felt like this at some time or another in your life? I know I sure did! There is no perfect partner, there are no perfect relationships. Putting someone on a pedestal or placing all these expectations on them, may not allow the person to be their authentic self, and you’re just going to end up disappointed. Instead of looking for perfection, look for other things like compatibility, appreciation and mutual commitment.

    Give without expectations

Image spotted by MS Caregivers “They say an expectation is a premeditated resentment, so let go and love them with no expectations of return” – Mastin Kipp Give without expectations. Learn to let go of those feelings of frustration, of disappointment when those that you helped may not necessarily return it back to you like you thought (or expect)  they would. Let go of those feelings that you deserve something for what you chose to do – because after all, the helping hand you offered to someone should have been done freely and without entitlement.

What image do you see? A talk with Life Coach Susan Korwin

Please welcome guest blogger, Susan Korwin About 10 years ago, I decided to become a lifestyle consultant after being stopped consistently in stores, museums, etc. by women asking me where I bought my dress, my bag, and just about anything I would have on. While on line in the grocery, I would have women (and men) ask if they could look inside my cart to see what I ate because I was thin. After dishing out free advice, I had an idea to make this a service to others that I could get paid for. What I found was that while taking people shopping and being in the dressing room…

Women’s History Month – Mes de la Historia de la Mujer

March is Women’s History Month.  The theme for 2011 is “Our History is Our Strength”.  Let’s celebrate the many accomplishments made by women of all cultures that contributed to our history.  There are so many women to highlight, so many different paths they took so that we can enjoy the life and the choices we have right now.  Some were born leaders, others could not even imagine becoming one, but were simply fed-up with the situation around them and decided that particular day to make a stance, however uncomfortable they may have been doing so.  It is because of them we have women doctors, entrepreneurs, pageant queens, and stay-at-home moms. …

Happy New Year! Feliz Año Nuevo!

Happy New Year! The following questions are from Tony Robbins, “Date with Destiny” seminar as listed by Mastin Kipp.  Besides the usual well wishes for a Happy New Year, I wanted to post this so you can join me in examining our current actions, so we can all stop negative beliefs and cycles and make 2011 truly different.  The “universe” is endless and success, in whatever form you may define it, is available for us all.  Harmful competition, greed and envy are all works of our ego, and not part of our true selves. So again, ask yourself: 1. What are you MOST happy with about 2010? What good things…
