Don’t let your limited situation, limit you.

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This Sunday I had my first group coaching of the year to a group of incredibly brave women. We all have goals and dreams, but many of us are content with leaving them there instead of doing the work it takes to make them a reality. As much as we may cry and pray for change, when push comes to shove it’s actually safer to stay the same. You already know what to expect. The unknown is crazy scary, but that’s where miracles happen. We’ve all been in a situation that limits us. Finances, lack of family support and…

    My moment on The Chew

A few weeks ago I got a call to see if I wanted to go on The Chew and compete in their version of the TV show “Shark Tank” called, “The Chew Tank” or “The Turkey Tank” as my segment was called because we were going to do a turkey cook off!! I’m not a professional cook at all. I’ll probably tell you after a few glasses of Prosecco that I once burned water on the stove (don’t judge me). Besides that one (or two) times that I did that, I learned how to cook as good as any (future) housewife-in-training. My Mama Juana is proof that you don’t need…

    Progress not perfection

I’m entering a different phase in my life with some new projects, so I wanted to slim down a bit. You should know that in the past I would have starved myself, maybe even slammed some crazy cayenne and lemon drink concoction for days (I’m talking to you Beyonce), or popped the latest diet pill to help peel off the pounds. I will never, ever do that s*** again. You know what happened next, I would lose some weight, but as soon as I started to eat anything I gained it all back. It’s taken a long time, but I can finally say I can lose weight without destroying my…

    Wait Without Anxiety

This past Friday I met up with my best friend Nicole, and we went to Gabrielle Bernstein’s “Live in the Know” lecture in the East Village. I’ve been a huge fan of Gabby’s work for some time, even re-posting her Spirit Junkie affirmations on my own instagram and Facebook pages. There’s just something about what she says that speaks to me. Maybe it’s how non-judgmental she seems, or how I can relate when she calls out her own struggles and imperfections.  Gabby is like Wendy Williams says, “my best friend in my head.” I even went on the Today Show to ask her a question on the “Coach Me If…

You’re never too old to chase your dreams!

On Monday, 64 year-old Diana Nyad became the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a protective cage or flippers. That’s more than 100 miles in shark-infested, jellyfish stinging water. Did I mention this was also her fifth attempt? She’s my freaking hero. How often do we give up on our dreams before we even give them a fair chance to grow? How many times did you give up because you failed, or because didn’t want to look stupid? How many times did you settle, or convince yourself that, “it’s not so bad” so you could learn to accept what’s comfortable instead of choosing what’s unknown? If you’re…

I’m on a billboard in Times Square for Dove!

What a great way to start the week. I checked my email this morning, and saw this! I know because I’ve been in a few pageants that people naturally assume that I always thought of myself as being “beautiful”. I can now say confidently as a woman in my 30s, I finally know what that word means. It’s not just about physical beauty, but it’s also about celebrating your strength, triumphs and failures. It’s about being the best you regardless of what anyone else thinks. xoxo Helen

    Thank You!

It’s been awhile since my last blog post geez!! *Warning* This post is kinda long so go grab a snack. So much has happened, and its a miracle I didn’t go screaming off into the night somewhere 🙂 Let’s see, since my last blog post I attended quite a few events and also competed at the Ms. Belleza Latina 2012 pageant where I came in as first runner-up! That experience is a blog post in itself… Today I wanted to thank my sponsors, friends and family that have supported me throughout this year. Going to events can be loads of fun, meeting celebrities and working (snap snap) the red carpet. I have…

    New beginnings!

What a wonderfully crazy year this has been for me so far, professionally and personally. I’m so thankful that I have the support of a loving family, and friends to keep me centered.  My “new beginning” meant lots of new experiences, mixed with many old feelings and memories, trying to hold me back. Sometimes I think we try and resist change because we’re afraid. It’s only when we let go of old beliefs, habits, and people that were holding us back, that new doors and the life that was meant for us, arrives. ” Today I will tell those that hurt me thanks.  Without them, I might have never known…
