Kiwi, blackberry and spinach green juice!
I have to confess I have not been as strict lately with my exercise and eating regimen. A little extra food here and there, saying yes to dessert one too many times, and not exercising for the past few months have left me looking at the mirror and cringing a bit at what I see. Sure there is more of me to love (ha), and yes no one but me probably notices, but I know I’m not in my top form and I need to step up my game before it gets out of control. The first step for me is always drinking green juices. I was experimenting and came up with this simple…

Why settle?
Why do we feel as adults (supposedly older and wiser) that we need to settle? As kids and teens we certainly never did. But somehow now as adults, it’s expected. Along with learning societal rules and values, we also learned how to settle, and never expect more than what was given to you. I say forget that shit! It’s never too late, and you’re never too old to renew, refocus and reinvent your life! XOXO, Helen

My favorite healthy soup recipe from Christy Wilson!
Christy Wilson is such a huge resource for me when it comes to discussing food benefits, nutritional & energy values and what does moderation really mean — all the fun geeky stuff you would expect a DPT and RD to talk about.

Latina in Hong Kong
Some of you may have been following my adventures and know that I met a special person (now boyfriend) “J” who is the best friend of Bryce, whom I met while filming Project Runway All Stars. Well the stars certainly aligned, the timing finally became right for us (both dating other people when we first met), and now we are in this full-blown relationship that has changed my life.

Meditating with Deepak Chopra
I confess I suck at meditating. I’ve heard everyone from Oprah to my uncle Francisco tell me for years how amazing meditating is, and why I need to incorporate it into my schedule. I swear I’ve tried! I’ve set up an amazing space in my apartment, have gone on day retreats and always try it at the end of my yoga class, and nada.

That time I thought I was going to die!
January is not only the beginning of a new year, but it’s also cervical cancer awareness month! Most people still don’t know what cervical cancer is, that the main culprit is the human papillomavirus (HPV), and that there is a vaccine!

Birthday wishes!
Yesterday was my birthday, and instead of writing a too sappy post on the joys of growing older and hopefully wiser, I wanted to thank you all!

Black Friday Green Boost
I have to confess, I have never done the Black Friday shopping experience. I’ve watched my mom head out at the crack of dawn and go out on & some Hunger Game-esque expedition just so she can score some amazing deal.

Smiling It Forward With Tylenol
I have received information about the TYLENOL® SMILING IT FORWARD™ program from McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., the makers of TYLENOL®. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post for Latina Bloggers Connect. Unless you count my Maltese Nena I’m not a mom, but I am the Titi to 17 nieces and nephews (whew)! Being the huge extended family that we are, I’ve lived with some of them at one point or another and feel like a second (but cooler) mother to most of them.

Day 1 in Paris – There’s A Techno Parade Outside My Window.
If you’ve ever traveled overseas then you know the deal. Because of the time difference you’re supposed to sleep on the plane so that you wake up perfectly refreshed when you land in your new timezone. Too bad I can never follow directions!

I have medical insurance, now what? Step 2: Understanding your insurance.

If I can do it, YOU can do it!
The more I read and talk with what most of us would consider “successful” people, the more I learn that while their experiences may have been different, there’s a general pattern of some breaking point, a period of reflection and then taking steps toward reinvention.

All about the #savings – Spa Sonic Face & Body Polisher Review
I’m all about saving money whenever possible so that I can continue to feed my ever-growing shoe & travel addictions. But when it comes to my face I don’t mind splurging, well because, it’s the only face I have! So if I can get something at a great price and it actually works –it’s a winner in my books. This brings me to this cute Spa Sonic I recently got to review.

Breast Cancer and it’s Racial Divide
Can you tell by the flood of pink everything for sale that it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While you may see the ad that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, what you might not see or hear is that while Hispanic and African American women are less likely to get breast cancer than Caucasian women, their chances of dying from breast cancer are actually higher.

Everyone has scars and here’s how to get rid of them. #Giveaway
Just about everyone has a scar, but not everyone has to live with them. I can recall many more times than I’d like to remember all the clumsy accidents I’ve had over the years. Like as a kid climbing our neighbors quenepas tree, only to fall and scrape my knee when the lookout, my cousin, yelled that my neighbor was home, causing me to lose my concentration and also my grip. Figures.
